Next Up: Rainy Washington...
Hey Readers!
I am now in rainy o'l Washington. I have visited here a couple years back, but it's always a good thing to visit a second time.
The Washington-Oregon coastline of the U.S, in North America, is what I have found here as an example of a convergent plate boundary. It is a oceanic and continental convergent subduction boundary. The Cascade Mountain Range is a line of volcanoes on the oceanic plate. The Juan de Fuca oceanic plate is subducting beneath the North American continental plate.

Boundaries like these result in earthquake activity and a line of volcanic eruptions. Just yesterday, off the coast of Oregon there was a 4.3 earthquake. In Washington, earthquakes do not occur frequently and as strong as some in other places. One of the strongest earthquakes for the Puget Sound was on June 23, 1946 in the strait of Georgia was an earthquake with 7.3 magnitude, even causing the bottom of Deep Bay to sink between 2.7 and 25.6 meters. The total affected area in the U.S and Canada was about 260,000 square km.One interesting piece of earthquake history I found was that near the Oregon-California was that on May 26, 1968 through June 11, a series of earthquakes occurred.

Hello California!
Hey Readers!
I am now in California. I am here to explore the San Andreas Fault [35°31'50.66"N 119°59'48.27"W]. Here in the San Andreas fault I have figured out that there is frequent earthquake activity. The plate boundary here is a transform fault, when two plates are sliding past each other. It is the sliding boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. There has been a myth about the San Andreas fault, that one day the fault will crack and California will slide into the sea, which is wrong and will never happen.

Himalayas...Here I come!
Hey Readers!
I am off to the the mountains in Nepal. [ 27°59'17.72"N 86°55'11.13"E]
I am visiting the Himalayas in India and exploring the plate boundaries. The Himalayas lies on a convergent collision, continental to continental plate boundary. The Himalayas were formed when India and Eurasia plates collided. Both plates were about equal, so none of the plates could subduct. There are many mountains and they are gorgeous when the sun hits them just right. These mountains separate the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan plateau. Himalayas are the world's highest peaks, which the Himalayas include Mt. everest, as well. In the Himalayas, earthquake activity takes place and there are high continental mountain chains.

Manila, Philippines
Hey Readers!
I have left Christchurch and now am in Manila, Philippines northern of Australia.
[14°35'5.92"N 120°58'8.15"E]
The Philippine plate is a part of a subduction example. The pacific plate goes beneath the Philippine plate and is pulled down, forming the Mariana Trench located in eastern part of the world, by Australia.
The Mariana trench is the boundary line for two tectonic plates, pacific plate and Mariana plate (Philippines plate). It is the deepest part of the world's ocean. It is estimated to be about 35, 994 ft. deep and is about 2,550 km long. The trench forms island volcanoes and contains earthquake activity. There are quite a few cracks, as you can see the effects from some of the earthquakes and the damage. On August 17, 1976 in Mindanao, Philippines and earthquake and tidal wave hit causing 8,000 people to go dead or missing. Then the northern Philippines were ehit again on July 16, 1990 with a 7.7 earthquake, killing nearly 2,000.
I am just making a short stop to visit the Philippines. It's beautiful here and sunny and they have such great hospitality. It's so fun here and I've met a couple down here who are very nice and have been touring me around. I have been seeing great things here and such differences from Paris.
I stay in a lovely hotel: Century Park Hotel
