Hey Readers!
I am now in Christchurch, New Zealand with Matthew!
He's quite a handful, if you ask me. We have had lots of fun in our short time here in New Zealand.
BUT ANYWAYS....
We are exploring the plate boundaries in Christchurch city. It's such beautiful place here! [ 43°31'55.39"S 172°38'10.41"E]
We have found a transform/divergent plate boundary. A couple of weeks ago, they were hit with a 6.3 earthquake! Well, of course, New Zealand practically lies on the boundary.
A transform boundary being, two plates rubbing (sliding) against each other, but not colliding or subducting. Fifteen people were killed when a 7.8 earthquake hit on June 17, 1929 hit. Another earthquake hit, killing at least 65 people and hundreds injured and buildings damaged.

This picture shows how two plates slide next to each other, not colliding or diverging, but just sliding against each other.
